I’ve been a Linux user on & off loosely for the past decade. My journey began with Ubuntu circa 2013. This was also around this time I started experimenting with various type of server setups. I played around with the now defunct Amahi briefly before switching over to OMV (OpenMediaVault) to currently UnRaid

Since then I had tried out a few Linux distros Raspbian, Mint and then discovered Pop_Os. I discovered Pop_Os probably 2 to 3 years ago around the beginning of COVID. I never played around with themes or icons sets with any distro of Linux. I just ran them as they were from the initial download and never really considered it as an operating system to use as daily driver. Linux was just always an option that I would install on old hardware that wouldnt be able to run the latest version of windows or very well.

This is yet another reason that has brought me back to exploring Linux and as my go to operating system. My current laptop even though older, I believe it is speced well enough to handle windows 11. However, my current laptop started acting glitchy on windows 10. So I dediced to partition the hard drive and install Pop.

So far everything has been running smoothly and haven’t experienced any issues. I have been experimenting more with themes and icons sets as well as exploring alternative app options that I can use. This would not be my work setup but for at home use for web browsing, streaming, writing and accessing my homelab. I will always need to have a partition of windows for Adobe creative cloud. I also have been using OneNote s I am considering wiping the windows partition on the laptop I am currently using.

I am also looking for a new or used laptop that has the following.

  • 13″-14″ screen
  • Lightweight
  • i5
  • 16gb ram
  • >512gb NVME
  • back lit keyboard

I believe I have it narrowed down to either Dell Latitude 5/7 series, XPS or Lenovo Thinkpad x1 Nano.
